Why a Pediatric Dentist?

Pediatric dentistry is the speciality of dentistry that focuses on the oral health of young people. After completing a four-year dental school curriculum, our pediatric dentist, Dr. Joanne Rahman, completed three additional years of rigorous training. This specialized program of study and hands-on experience prepared her to meet the needs of infants, children, and adolescents, including patients with special health care needs.

We are concerned about your child’s complete dental health. Good oral health is an important part of total health. Establishing our office as your child’s “dental home” provides us with the opportunity to implement preventative dental habits that keep your child free from dental disease. We focus on prevention, early detection, and treatment of dental diseases, and keep current on the latest advances in dentistry for children.

Enjoyable trips to the dental office promote confidence in your child that will last a lifetime. Our mission is to help all children feel good about visiting the dentist and teach them how to care for their teeth. From our special office designs to our communication style, our main focus is what is best for your child!

Why a Pediatric Dentist?

A specialist in pediatric dentistry has two to three years training following dental school, and is dedicated to the oral health of your child from infancy through the teenage years.

Each stage of a child’s life (toddler, adolescents, and teenagers) requires different approaches in dealing with their behavior, guiding them through their dental growth and development, and helping them to avoid future dental problems. A pediatric dentist is uniquely trained and qualified to care for your child through each of these stages. Our goal is to “grow beautiful smiles”, and encourage your child to develop positive attitudes toward oral health that will continue throughout adulthood.

We make sure to encourage your child to develop positive attitudes towards oral health, such as brushing and flossing, and good eating habits that will continue into adulthood and make that smile last a lifetime.
